Sacrifice of love

This is a poem that I wrote for the pairing of the 10th doctor and Rosa, from Dr Who.

Sacrifice of love

You were my inspiration
The one who knew my well
The one who stood by my side
And now you are gone

When I first heard
The prophecy
That would leave
I thought it was a lie

But now you are gone
I am left wondering
Why I didn't listen
Why I didn't believe

You came into my life
As if by accident
Some random coincidence
That we would meet

We battled side by side
And became quite close
But somehow
It was predetermined

When I first heard those words
It was like a curse
And I denied the truth
Because I feared losing you

You stood in the line of fire
And fought bravely
One last time by my side
Then it happened

You were taken away from me
My number one
But did you ever know
How much I loved you so?

But do I see?
Is there a way?
To bring you back
Is it too much a risk?

I'd do anything
To hold you again
To see your smile
To feel your warmth

So now I've got to decide
If I take the chance
To try and and bring you back
So you are back in my life

But is this selfish?
To want you back so much?
But it it means
That I'd lose my own life

There would be no point
Because if you could come back
But had paid the price
You would be here and I'd be gone

It would like now
Where you are not here
And without you
I have lost my purpose
